Revision,
Revision, and More Revision
I feel like my writing process is in a constant state of
revision. When I start writing an
essay, I will usually sit down and write out as much of it as I can without
stopping. Once I stop, then the
revision process starts and never ends until I am completely done with the
essay. I will constantly go back
and read what I have written. This
will lead to changes, re-thinking, proofing and whatever is needed to make the
paper flow better.
Often in the progress of my writing and revisions, lights
will come on, giving some bigger realization, which leads to major revisions. On one had I do not like when the light
comes on, because it usually means I am going to do some serious re-writing and
re-working. One the other hand,
the bigger revisions lead to a new found excitement in making it a better
paper. I can usually count on at
least one or two major overhauls, as I continue to work on a paper.
Today, I met with our teacher, Laura Cline to review my
essay for any necessary revisions. I found our time together to be very
beneficial and helpful to the success of my final essay. I was worried going into the meeting,
thinking the worst. I can honestly say it was the opposite of the worst. It was
rewarding to find no major changes were needed. All the minor notes made sense to me and I can see how the
revisions will make my paper a solid A+……. hopefully.
The revisions I received today focused primarily on the
body paragraphs more clearly connecting to the thesis. I was able to add a sentence or two to
each paragraph that more clearly achieved this connection. The other revisions focused on minor
punctuation errors on my part, which proved to be an easy fix. Overall revisions are important to my
writing and I am grateful for them.

That seems to be my problem quite frequently, if I am not adamant about remembering as I go - making sure my paragraphs all point back to the thesis. I am glad you got the help you needed! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what you're saying - for me it seems like the whole writing process is an ongoing revision - from start to finish. I wish I could have been able to make my schedule work so that I could have met with our professor this past week - if so, I think I would feel much better about this assignment.
ReplyDeleteVincent, So far I feel you have done such a great job. Your insightful, and over I see you passing with flying colors.
ReplyDeleteIts been great reading your blogs!

ReplyDeleteI hope you receive that solid A. I wish I would have had the time to have meat with our Professor. This essay has been difficult, but I am sure you will do great.
